FEAR: NOT YOUR NATURE

“For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of love, and of power, and of a sound mind” (2Tim 1:7). This is the plan, intention of God for man. A child of God has no obligation to fear, dread or panic when anything happens. It is not the nature of God. Fear is synonymous with darkness and as such, only those in darkness are liable to fear, dread or panic. It is never the place of a child of God.

Often times, fear strikes our hearts, not because we are hurt or liable to danger but because our hearts are often occupied with unreal fearful thoughts and imaginations. As a result, we are jittery at any slight sound, sight of a familiar situation or even creature. Where then, is our assurance in God.

1Pet 2:9 tells us we have been called from darkness into His marvellous light. Fear dreads at the emergence of light. Matthew 5:14 also tells us we are the light of the world…. Then I wonder, if I’m the light of the world, why should I fear slight darkness or be mindful of evil? The light of the world is no small light. Imagine how illuminated the whole world is with just one Sun! That’s what you are.

Light signifies courage! Proverbs 28:1 says the righteous are as bold as Lion…. Jesus is the Lion of Judah’s tribe. So, if we are in Christ who is the Lion of Judah’s tribe, then courage, boldness, fearlessness should be our divine nature. As a matter of fact, “Nothing scares you, it is you who get scared of something”. Fear is therefore, a choice. When you fear, you have made a dangerous choice because fear will get you out of God’s project of divine protection.

It is time to wake up! When you don’t know the value of a thing, you misuse it and as such, its purpose will never be manifested. The same way you are misused, abused and you lose the essence of living when you don’t realise who you are in Christ. A knowledge of your identity grants you a platform for manifestation of your divine nature.

You must understand that you’re a divine being who doesn’t operate ordinarily. You should know that even when you walk in darkness, you are a light which shines bright and scares every evil away from your path. David in Psalm 23:4 declares, “yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me….”. This is the portion of God’s children. We carry God and no evil can withstand Him. If I am a child of God, then, I am a “god” (Psalms 82:6) because like begets like. God can only give birth to gods. However, when we refuse to acknowledge this, “we shall die like ordinary men” (vs 7).

Fear is shy! Fear is fearful! When you face it, it flees!
Get up! Take your place in God. Shalom!!!
